Fear held me back from pursuing my writing dreams for years.
In my 20s and 30s, I wanted to be a writer so bad. Sad thing was, I was scared that I wouldn’t be successful. I was afraid that I wouldn’t make any money. Wanna know the number one issue that kept my dreams deferred. The fear of what my friends and family would think of my writing. Those fears were deeply rooted in my need for approval. The fear of rejection kept me from embracing my potential and pursuing my passion.
What Changed
As years passed, and I got older, I stopped thinking about other people’s opinion of me and my writing. I learned that a lot of the people I knew had dreams of writing at least one book themselves. But, they would probably never take that chance.
Currently, in my late 40s, much of that fear that I had been carrying around has been thrown out the window. I am facing those fears and pursuing my life’s purpose.
Letting go of fear has been liberating. Allowing me to write with a newfound sense of freedom and confidence.
